Fingers crossed
I am dumbfounded at the cost of housing these days... Becky and I are trying to find a piece of land where we can escape, but are quickly realizing that now is the absolute worst time to look at any property. I have been researching a bit on housing prices and the housing bubble and came across this very entertaining video that sums up the current housing/lending situation in an easy to understand way.
We are waiting patiently and building up resources for when the time is right to move.. What goes up must come down and the higher it goes the farther it must eventually fall. My feeling is that not only will it come down, but it will fall flat and leave millions of middle class Americans upside down and screwed. The federal government has made bankruptcy an option only slightly more appealing than suicide now. In my opinion the decision to make bankruptcy harder was done to give lenders the green light to loan money to those that really couldn't afford to pay it back. All so that the economy could continue to appear "healthy" while we as a country dig ourselves into a bottomless pit of debt that I don't believe we even plan to repay in the future. The stage is set for one of the greatest financial disasters of all time... Too bad that our current idiot in chief (the one that made this all possible) will not be paying the price for it. That's the American way these days - the folks in charge are the least accountable.
Hang on to your hats folks. Rich or poor, we all have a front row seat on this roller coaster and it's not built on a solid foundation to begin with... If you have not been preparing already, you'd better start paying attention. The morning news is not going to tell you what's really going on behind the scenes these days. They don't have the time or resources to leave their cubicles anymore and they are scared to report anything that has not already happened and been offically approved. Listen to the individuals that are in the field living the nightmare already. Listen to the ones that have already lost everything...
I am really afraid these days. Afraid to speak my mind... I am afraid of what is coming. We gave up our rights and handed over our freedom for a false sense of security and "the american dream". I didn't do enough to stand up for myself then and now I fear it is too late...

I dislike GW too...but I think this statement is tasteless and WAY over the top, even made over a year ago and considering the market now..."The federal government has made bankruptcy an option only slightly more appealing than suicide"....
I see you receive no comments - is it because you delete them? Or nobody reads you? Your bus conversion [before you went on the road] was captivating, whiney, but captivating.....just curious.
I have been reading your archives from the bus to here for two days...and I cannot begin to tell you how amazed at what you say and how you feel about things....you take my breath away.
Skippy
I have my good days and my bad days. On the days when I feel like I am at the bottom of crap pile I feel like venting. Other days I just love life for all it has to offer - things seem to be getting more on the love of life side lately - so I post less... Sad huh?
As for deleting comments... Nope - I delete/draft posts all of the time (finding them too close to my heart to make public), but I very rarely delete a comment - I'm just really unpopular I guess (laughing).
