Halloween is fast approaching...   I am really slacking when it comes to posting updates.  It's been a busy week.

The graveyard has received a few more gravestones.  Becky and I created 2 new gravestones to help fill in the empty space.
Becky designed her gravestone from scratch.  She based it very roughly off something she found on the internet, but 90% of the design came about simply by trial and error.

She decided to add a couple of small angels to the top of her stone to make it a bit more exciting.

I really like the way it turned out.

My gravestone took 3 times as long to make.  I kind of "winged" it too.  I ended up with a very complicated winged devil kind of thing that took me hours to mask and paint...

I didn't feel like cutting out lettering after all of the stencil cutting for the devil, so I ended up leaving mine blank in terms of lettering.

I leave you to guess at what this is a picture of...

I'll give you a hint.  It's a body part turned inside out and will be part of the final scare at the end of the haunt.

I'll hopefully have some pictures of the final creation in the next day or two - it's still drying...

OK, some sneak peeks at the inside of this year's haunt.

There are a few spiders involved in a section of the haunt.  They drop from the ceiling and land on your head/shoulders as you walk through a long hallway inside the haunt.

My father in law is in charge of the spider dropping mechanism and the resulting scare.

I don't know how to describe this part other than to say that it's part of the final scare - kind of a mad lab/morgue scene.

I put a few colored LED lights that change colors behind some of the large tubes attached to the board.  The thing weighs about 100 lbs I think.  It's 3 foot wide and a couple feet tall.  It hangs above the autopsy table and really adds to the overall atmosphere of the autopsy room.

Some "mad lab" stuff found in the last room of the haunt...  Becky and I gathered the bottles from a local resale shop and hooked them up to a fish tank air pump.  There's only 3 liquids used here - water, tonic water and liquid laundry detergent mixed with water.  The green and yellow bottles are painted with "neon" green and yellow paint on the bottom and then filled with regular old water.  Nice touch huh?
The final scare of the haunt also activates the only exit.  I worked for quite some time to get the door & barrel to work of the same solenoid and at the same air line pressure.

After the BIG SCARE the barrel and door go off to give the kids a last little scare and show them the way out.  Of course the door closes behind them as they are running for their lives screaming...

Click on the barrel for a video of the barrel prop and the exit door opening.  I filmed the whole thing in bright light this time so you could see.  On Halloween there will be only a dim black light.  Te exit will be lit brightly to show the way.

One of the SUPER SECRETS of the haunt this year are the wall panels...

Some of the wall panels are not entirely solid - and may allow things to enter the haunt from somewhere you least expect.  There are many secrets to be discovered in the haunt this year.  Hopefully we'll manage to get a few screams from the trick-or-treat crowd...

That's enough for now.  I've got to get back to work...
