October 3rd 2007
I got a call from the local newspaper today. I guess they want to do a
story on the haunted house. I will give them a call tomorrow when I am not
so tired...
It was a long day at the haunted house. I finished the pneumatics and
electrical for one of the pop-ups, built a standing prop skeleton and got a good
portion of a window pneumatic started before the day was over.
| Al finished up the bulk of the painting inside the trailer while I
worked on the pneumatics. There was a lot of paint in the air when I
took the picture...
This is the door room. |
 |
| The same door room after painting. We're going for "too white"
- it's not often that you see bright white inside a haunted house.
There's a reason for the bright white that will become apparent later
when we start decorating <grin>. |
 |
| Here's a shot of the new window scare. There are a couple of
lines run to the top of the window that will make the curtain blow into
the haunt. In the window we have a nice little scene waiting for
the unsuspecting guests. It should be a lot of fun if all works
out. This will be my first window prop, so I have some testing and
learning to do on this one... |
 |
| One of the "drop" panels in the haunt. This one actually does
not drop but instead slides up - mostly to allow the actor an escape
route below the picture frame. The milk carton in the background is
part of the fancy <laughing> counterweight system that makes the panel
easier to slide up.
If you're paying attention you might notice the light switch on the
right wall inside the drop panel room - it allows the actor to control
the window scare... although at the moment it's hooked up to the
pop-up in the nearby closet since I wanted to do some testing with a new
flow control valve I bought today. The valve sucks, but it was
really cheap... Tomorrow I am on a search for another valve and
the parts I need to finish the window prop. |
 |
| Here's a picture of the main hallway. Believe it or not, it's
bright and sunny outside. There's almost no light that comes in
from the outside in the haunt. Now that most of the walls are flat
black, there's little light in the haunt - this picture was taken using
the flash on the camera... It's a bit messy in the hall right now
because I am working on the window scare. |
 |
Tomorrow I have some morning shopping to take care of and then it's back to
the haunt for the majority of the day. The fun part is happening now, so
expect almost daily posts. |
